Heirloom Beauty

Of the last remaining relics in the original François Coty empire, is Coty’s Airspun Loose Face Powder. The one hundred and one year old recipe from the famed French perfumer is light, matte and bears a floral heart with notes of bergamot, clove, violet and orange. The original is actually a little strong for me though. I prefer the fragrance free (not actually fragrance free, just toned down a bit) luminous translucent version which comes in lovely aqua colored box of the same art deco design as the original. In the summer, a light dusting over concealer is all you need.
Splish Splash!

According to Murphy’s Law, if you wear a beautiful, red silk evening dress, you will spill food on yourself..
So when I fell victim to the curse, I dabbed seltzer into the stain… which got rid of the grease, but left a huge water mark.
Multiple trips to the dry cleaner were of no avail. It would not budge. I pushed the dress into the back of my closet and tried to forget about it.
Then one day, I was on the spot when my co-worker found a big, ugly water stain on his office chair. Since he owns a dry cleaning business on the side, he had the know-how to reach out for… Windex. And I saw it work!
I ran home and pulled out the dress. It was do-or-die. I picked up the Windex, aimed and fired.
And that is how the little red dress got saved.
Tried and True

This is my don’t-leave-home-without-it vünder-salve! Who knew this tiny tin, first prescribed in 1892, could have so many uses for the modern gal on the go? I love the old fashioned rosebud scent in the blue and white tin, but look for mocha rose, brambleberry, mint, eucalyptus and strawberry. At $6, it’s packed with essential oils and pulling major double duty! Nab a tin (Sephora citywide) and use it for:
- Gloss—that won’t leave you looking lacquered
- Taming tresses—use your fingertips and a little salve to smooth unruly baby hairs around the forehead
- Soothing bug bites, cold sores and burns—for those early morning flat iron mishaps
- Dry knees, elbows and cuticles
- Eyelash conditioner—massage a bit in before bedtime
- Glow—dab a little on the cheeks and eye lids for a dewy morning glow (great for the gym!)
